Dioptase with Malachite

Ray Mine, Ray District, near Kearney, Dripping Springs Mts., Pinal County, Arizona, USA

$400
Miniature

55 x 37 x 27 mm overall

This colorful and rare Dioptase specimen from the Ray Mine consisting of sparkly, emerald-green Dioptase crystals to 4 mm richly covering bubbly, powder-blue Chrysocolla on dark, contrasting matrix. Some of the Chrysocolla is covered with clear little Quartz crystals, also with Dioptase perched on the Quartz. What makes this specimen particularly unique for this find are the presence of lustrous, dark-green, spheroidal aggregates of Malachite crystals to 7 mm, also partly coated with Dioptase druse. This is one of a small batch of Dioptase specimens collected in May 1992 by Pat, who was a shift boss at the Ray Mine. I acquired the entire lot a few days later. There were only 3 or 4 of these Malachite associations found. Other than one possibly slightly bruised Malachite I see no damage. This is a chance to own a combination of minerals rarely seen at the Ray Mine in Arizona.
