Rutile
Champion Mine, White Mts., Mono County, California, USA
Sold
Miniature
40 x 36 x 29 mm overall
A sharp, lustrous, doubly-terminated Rutile crystal measuring 15 x 10 x 7 mm, is perched on contrasting tan Pyrophyllite. The Pyrophyllite displays classic radial fan-like groups. The Rutile has distinct flashes of red and mirror-bright faces, and is in perfect condition. From the Richard P. Hauck collection, who is one of the founders of the Sterling Hill Mining Museum, this is a very fine specimen from the old and remote Champion Spark Plugs titanium mine.
