Fluorite
Afton Canyon area, Cady Mts., San Bernardino Co., California, USA
Sold
Miniature
58 x 52 x 19 mm overall
Lustrous, translucent, intergrown octahedrons of Fluorite to 21 mm, ranging from light green at the edges to dark green in the center. The Fluorites are accented with cream-colored Quartz, and are free of damage. California is not known for producing Fluorite, and there are only two localities that produce green (and octahedral!) Fluorites - this locality and the Felix prospect in Azusa; both of these localities are now closed to collecting. Strongly fluorescent in LW, and less so in SW, which is uncommon.
