Crocoite
Red Lead Mine, Dundas mineral field, Zeehan district, Tasmania, Australia
Sold
Miniature
32 x 12 x 6 mm overall
This is a very gemmy, lustrous, perfectly-terminated crystal of fiery-red Crocoite, measuring 32 mm long. Although most of the Crocoites on the market are from the nearby Adelaide Mine, they can't match the fire of this crystal from the Red Lead Mine, which was discovered in 1890, and was one of the first recorded occurrences of Crocoite in Tasmania.
