Elbaite tourmaline

17 x 11 x 9 mm overall

This nice, gemmy Elbaite tourmaline from Minas Gerais, Brazil has a rich, hot pink base that sharply transitions to a pale bluish-green cap. Measuring 17 x 11 x 9 mm, it is gemmy with good transparency and luster. The sharp triangular pinacoidal termination is just lightly frosted. It is in excellent condition, with Ed Swoboda's original thumbnail mounting. It was held back by Ed for nearly 20 years, when I purchased it in the early 1990s for my personal collection.
