Anatase on Quartz
Lavrinha, Minas Gerais, Brazil
40 x 18 x 17 mm overall
Several, sharp, intergrown, doubly-terminated, dipyramidal crystals of dark Anatase to 7 x 3 mm with gemmy, yellowish tips and bluish flashes of color, are perched on a shard of recrystallized, glassy Quartz included with brownish clay(?). There is some minor edge chipping on one Anatase visible under the high magnification of the macrophotography, but not noticible with the naked eye. This was collected by Ed Swoboda from a small prospect labeled Lavrinha by Ed, near Cuiaba. It was held back by Ed Swoboda for nearly 20 years, when I purchased it in the early 1990s for my personal collection. These pieces are very rare.
