Sphalerite
Nikolaevskiy (Nikolaev Mine), Dal'negorsk, Primorskiy Kray, Russia
$625
Miniature
50 x 42 x 30 mm overall
Several sharp, jet-black, very lustrous, twinned Sphalerite crystals are intergrown in an aesthetic skeletal-like form. The group of crystals are well striated, showing off sharp steps of triangular growth patterns. The largest Sphalerite twin is 40 x 37 x 24 mm in size. These crystals are pristine, with mirror-bright luster which makes photography very difficult. The Dal'negorsk mines are renowned for world-class sulfide specimens, and this very fine specimen is much better in person. ex. Harvey Gordon specimen.
