Andradite garnet ( var. Demantoid )

Belqeys Mountain (Kuh-e-Belgheys), near Takab, West Azarbaijan Province, Iran

$925
Miniature

47 x 31 x 27 mm overall
with up to 13 mm Demantoid

A pair of lustrous, forest-green Andradite (v. Demantoid) garnet crystals are perfectly placed on one side this matrix specimen. The largest is 13 mm in size. Several other Demantoid garnets occupy reverse side, and with the proper orientation, all are nicely displayed. These are from a new find in Iran, far from the previous Kerman locality, and I was able to secure 3 of the top specimens available. This specimen is in excellent condition, and unlike most demantoid garnets which have a yellowish tint, these are a nice true-green color. The camera had a difficult time capturing the gemminess and intense color of these garnets, and they are much nicer in person.

Specimen #  IRD01
