Stilbite and Apophyllite
Nasik Quarry, Pashan, Pune (Poonah) District, Maharashtra, India
67 x 60 x 44 mm overall
Lustrous crystals of gemmy apple-green Apophyllite to 33 mm long are intergrown with equally lustrous off-white crystals of contrasting Stilbite to 28 mm long. According to the Seitz collection's notes, this was a gift to John Sinkankas from Prof. Rowe Spicer of the Memorial College, Ganeshkind, India on October 19, 1970. At that time, Sinkankas' inventory card indicated the specimen was *desirable!* and he valued it at $40. There is an additional notation on the card that in July, 1998, he valued the specimen at $100. The inventory card further stated: *beautiful small specimen showing pale tan Stilbite sheaves in criss-cross arrangement with terminated green prisms of Apophyllite.* The specimen retains the Sinkankas hand-written label.
