Brookite on Quartz (var. Smoky)

This very aesthetic matrix specimen of small light-gray Quartz points is dominated by a large, slightly-corroded Quartz point measuring 40 x 2 mm, and hosts many shiny black pseudo-octahedral Brookite crystals to 11 mm. Some of the Brookites, at over 1 cm, are quite large for the locality. The large Quartz point is also atypical - it has the classic light gray color, but also has opaque white on selective faces. Collected in the late 1980s, it is in excellent condition, and is a high-quality example of classic Arkansas Brookite.
