Quartz (var. Amethyst)
Amatitlan, Mun. de Zumpango del Rio, Guerrero, Mexico
$250
Small Cabinet
92 x 51 x 40 mm overall
Very gemmy, lustrous crystals of amethystine Quartz grading from clear at their bases to rich purple at the tips are perched on light tan matrix. The largest Quartz is 23 x 12 mm in size, and some of the Quartz crystals are doubly terminated. Bright green Epidote lightly coats some crystals and part of the matrix, making for a nice contrast. This visually striking and aesthetic specimen dates to about the mid 1960s when the Paul Edwards collection was assembled. In excellent condition.
