This highly-lusterous, single Quartz (var. Amethyst) point to 14 mm across, with great purple color, is encrusted by a second generation of smaller Amethyst crystals grown on its faces. Sometime called cactus Quartz, these were first discovered in 1986 in the Magaliesberg Mountain Range near Pretoria, South Africa. This specimen has only one small chip on the back of the termination.
