Cumengeite on Boleite
Amelia Mine, Boléo District, Santa Rosalia, Canada de Curuglu, Municipio de Mulege, Baja California Sur, Mexico
11 x 10 x 9 mm overall
Incredibly rare, sharp, large (1.1 x 1.0 x 0.9 cm) Cumengeite floater with 3 of the 6 possible points developed on the host Boleite crystal. Several small Boleites are perched on the Cumengeites. This competition-quality thumbnail has exceptional color and luster. It was held back by Ed Swoboda for nearly 20 years, when I purchased it in the early 1990s. This is from the 1970s finds at this famous locality. Specimens are very hard to obtain today in any quality, and specimens of this calibre are almost impossible to obtain. No damage.
