Chrysocolla ( pseudo Gypsum? )

Ray Mine, Ray District, near Kearney, Dripping Springs Mts., Pinal County, Arizona, USA

Sold
Miniature

57 x 22 x 13 mm overall

Superb and aesthetic partly-radiating spray of Chrysocolla pseudomorphing Gypsum(?) from this one-time find in the 2280 Level of the Silica Pit on September 2, 1976. When these specimens first came out they were sky blue in color, and over time they have developed this natural greenish-blue patina. On the back side, there is one unterminated crystal, but it does not show and thus does not materially affect either the appearance or value. From the Andy Clark (geologist at Ray Mine) collection, this is a fine competition quality specimen.
