Siderite with Pyrrhotite
Morro Velho Mine, Nova Lima, Minas Gerais, Brazil
$85
Miniature
41 x 32 x 15 mm overall
18 mm Siderite
A relatively-large, sharp, tabular crystal of Pyrrhotite measuring 27 x 4 mm is perched within numerous flattened rhombs of lustrous, light yellow-brown Siderite to 18 mm across. There is only minor chipping of the Pyrrhotite. From the famous pocket found in the 60's in Brazil's deepest Gold Mine, This was held back by Ed Swoboda for over 20 years, when I purchased it in the early 1990s for my personal collection. These pieces were not very common.
