Anatase on Quartz
Lavrinha, Minas Gerais, Brazil
66 x 33 x 30 mm overall
up to 8 mm Anatase
Sharp, pyramidal crystals of dark Anatase to 8 mm with gemmy, yellowish tips and bluish flashes of color, are perched on and partly intergrown with complexly crystallized, glassy Quartz heavily included with brownish, fuzzy-looking clay(?). Most of the Anatase consist of mostly of an upper well-developed pyramidal portion. Only one conchoidal chip in the Quartz and a small ding on a small Anatase which are not obvious, and a sawn base. This was collected by Ed Swoboda from a small prospect labeled Lavrinha by Ed, near Cuiaba. It was held back by Ed Swoboda for nearly 20 years, when I purchased it in the early 1990s for my personal collection. These pieces are very rare.
