Rhodochrosite with Barite

35 x 32 x 15 mm overall

This sharp, moderate-cherry-red, perfectly disc-shaped Rhodochrosite crystal measures 35 x 32 x 15 mm, and is mostly coated on the reverse with pale-pink earthy Barite(?), which acts to partly frame this beautiful and extraordinary specimen. A small pale-pink tabular Barite crystal provides a wonderful accent. This is an unusually perfect and fine example from this locality which usually produces more pink rather than red Rhodochrosites. It is a complete floater with no evidence of attachment, and is in pristine, undamaged condition. I have not seen a nicer Rhodochrosite miniature!
