Dioptase
Ray Mine, Ray District, near Kearney, Dripping Springs Mts., Pinal County, Arizona, USA
$600
Large Cabinet
95 x 56 x 32 mm overall
This rich specimen from the Ray Mine has many lustrous, emerald-green Dioptase crystals to 5 mm long on contrasting, bluish-grey Chrysocolla. Unlike most Arizona Dioptase, this specimen has nice, distinct and large-for-the-locality crystals. This is one of a small batch of Dioptase specimens collected in May 1992 by Pat, who was a shift boss at the Ray Mine. I acquired the entire lot a few days later. Mostly damage free.
