Andradite garnet
Cerro el Toro, Municipio de Alamos, Sonora, Mexico
$65
Small Cabinet
67 x 55 x 46 mm overall
This specimen is a solid mass of large Andradite crystals to 21 mm that range from root beer-brown to yellowish-brown in color. Small, gemmy, orangish dodectahedrons of Andradite are scattered on the faces of the larger garnets. Distinct undulations and many complexly crystallized faces dominate. This is from a small skarn discovered and collected in 1997 by Marty Houhoulis. Only a few good specimens were recovered.
