Elbaite tourmaline

13 x 13 x 12 mm overall

This nice, gemmy Elbaite tourmaline from Minas Gerais, Brazil has a rich, hot pink base that transitions to a pale bluish-green cap. Measuring 13 x 13 x 12 mm, this thumbnail is faceting quality, with good transparency and luster. The sharp triangular pinacoidal termination is frosted, with a small chip on the edge. This thumbnail is otherwise in excellent condition, with Ed Swoboda's original mounting. It was held back by Ed since the early 1970, and I purchased it in the early 1990s for my personal collection.
